What is Meta Ads and how does it differ from Google?

Meta Ads is the advertising platform for Facebook, Instagram, Messenger and the Audience Network. It is still widely known as Facebook Ads, although Meta renamed it years ago.

The difference from Google Ads is the one that shapes the entire strategy. On Google you serve demand that already exists: someone is searching for what you sell. On Meta you interrupt: nobody was looking for you. That is why creative here is not the dressing — it is the variable that carries the most weight — and targeting works through interests and behaviour rather than through what the person types.

You can target by location, age, interests, behaviour, lookalike audiences based on your existing customers, or retargeting audiences of people who have already visited your site.

Let me explain. Granular targeting was Meta’s great argument for years, but the narrative needs updating: since Apple’s privacy changes and the arrival of automated campaigns, narrowing the audience too far tends to perform worse than giving the algorithm a strong signal and letting it work. Anyone selling surgical targeting as a differentiator is stuck in 2019.

Let us walk you through how we manage a Meta Ads account — calculator on the table, no ROAS promises before seeing your numbers.

It depends on whether your business needs to create demand or collect it, and that question should be answered before opening the account.

If you sell something people are already searching for, start with search — it works out cheaper. Meta performs very well when the product is visual, when the ticket involves a quick decision, or when you want to reach people who do not yet know they need you. In B2B with long cycles it behaves differently, and there we frame it as demand generation rather than direct sales.

Three things. Reach at scale and at a lower cost than most other channels; the ability to target by profile in ways that search cannot match; and visual formats where you can show the product in use — which for certain sectors is worth more than any text.

And one that is underused: Meta is the fastest, cheapest place to test messages. What wins here in a week then feeds your search ads and your website.

Why should you run your Meta Ads campaigns with AMDT?

I am not going to tell you we are the best, because there is no way to prove it. Here are four concrete reasons:

We suggest starting with an audit of your account. If it turns out your campaigns are already well managed, we will tell you and there will be no project. And if your case calls for more organic than paid, we will tell you that too. You can view all our services

Frequently Asked Questions

We start with measurement and with whatever account you already have, not with launching new campaigns. We review the pixel and the Conversions API, the catalogue if you sell product, and the audiences you have built, because that is usually where the problem lies — before the bidding.

Then we build the structure, produce batches of creatives for testing, and measure against your analytics, not just against Meta’s dashboard.

It depends on the sector, the ticket size and the website the ad leads to, so any figure given before looking at your numbers is marketing, not a forecast.

What I can tell you is what to expect over time: useful data in the first week, a stabilised structure in three to four weeks, and from the second month onwards, scaling decisions with a solid foundation. I would advise distrusting anyone who promises a specific ROAS in the commercial proposal.

Essentially, judgement and testing pace. Launching a campaign on Meta can be done by anyone in twenty minutes; keeping it profitable for months is a different craft.

I have seen in-house accounts with good budget and very little result for two reasons that keep repeating: nobody refreshes the creatives until they burn out, and nobody cross-checks what the platform reports against what the analytics shows. Meta attributes conversions by its own criteria, and if you do not compare you may be scaling something that is not actually selling.
