What does a digital marketing agency actually do?
It coordinates a company’s digital channels so they all pull in the same direction: acquisition, content, advertising, web and measurement.
Let me explain. The difference between an agency and a standalone supplier is not how many services it offers, but whether someone is looking at the whole picture. I have seen companies with an SEO specialist on one side, an advertising agency on another and a designer doing their own thing, each optimising their own metric without anyone watching the one that matters to the business. The SEO was driving traffic that did not buy, the ads were bringing clicks the website could not convert, and the designer rebuilt the homepage without telling either of them.

That is why the first thing we decide is not what to do, but what comes first and what should wait. Not every business needs the same things, nor in the same order.
In some cases the measurement needs fixing before spending another pound. In others, organic work will take too long and you need to sustain the cash flow with paid campaigns while it matures. And in some, frankly, the problem is not marketing but the offering or the price — and we tell you that too.
Working this way means saying no to things we could bill for. We consider that a reasonable price.

The customer journey — which is where the money gets lost
The customer journey is the path from the moment someone has never heard of you to the moment they recommend you. And it breaks almost always in the same place: nobody takes responsibility for the middle stretch.
Let me suggest a quick exercise. Mentally spread your current investment across these five stages. In most businesses we audit, virtually the entire budget sits in the first two, and retention has no owner.

How do we work at AMDT?
With a fixed sequence: measure first, then decide, then execute, and measure again. It sounds obvious and almost nobody follows it.
The starting point is always the diagnosis, because without reliable data any subsequent decision is a gamble. We ourselves discovered in an internal audit that our Analytics was counting one session on a day when another tool was counting seventy. If it happened to us — and we do this for a living — it is worth checking at yours before moving a single pound of budget.

Once the data is reliable, we prioritise by impact and effort, not by what feels exciting. From there comes a plan with order, an owner and a deadline, and a monthly report that states what worked, what did not, and which part of the result is attributable to the work and which to the market.
If something did not work, it appears in the report. That is the only way for a report to be useful for making decisions.

What do you gain by bringing everything under one agency?
Essentially, you stop paying the coordination cost, which is invisible on the invoices but shows in the result. These are the effects we see when channels stop operating independently:
Less risk. We measure before investing, so spend that cannot be justified never happens.
Faster decisions. When the same person sees organic, advertising and analytics at the same time, a diagnosis takes days instead of three meetings and two emails.

Genuine time savings. One point of contact, one report and no meetings dedicated to two suppliers agreeing on who deserves the credit.
And a channel that compounds. Organic work and content keep producing the month you stop paying for advertising. That is the difference between renting visibility and building it.

Frequently Asked Questions
What services does a digital marketing agency include?
In our case: organic positioning, paid advertising, analytics and measurement, content, conversion and web development. And above all of that, the part that is not billed by the hour but determines the outcome: what gets done first and what does not.
Each service has its own page if you want the detail: SEO consultancy, SEO audit, local SEO, SEO migration, Google Ads, digital analytics, content marketing, conversion optimisation, web design, AI engine optimisation and marketing automation.
Do you work face to face as an agency in Madrid?
Yes. We have been in Madrid since 2012 and work on-site when the project calls for it: kick-offs, sessions with the management team, in-house training for the internal team.
That said, we are not going to sell you proximity as a technical argument. A good number of our clients are based outside Madrid, and some outside Spain. If your business is local and you need to appear on the map, that is local SEO and it is handled separately.
How much does it cost to work with a digital marketing agency?
It depends on the scope, but I will give you the rationale instead of a figure plucked from thin air.
We work on a monthly retainer, not loose hours, because this is a long game, not a one-off job. Before proposing an amount we do the maths: what demand exists in your sector, how much a customer is worth to your business and what it would cost you to buy that same traffic via advertising. If the numbers say it does not stack up, we tell you and there is no proposal. It has happened.
What we do not do is charge a percentage of the advertising spend without showing the breakdown of where each part goes.
How long before results become noticeable?
It depends on the channel, and it is worth not lumping them all into the same promise.
Advertising gives you data in days and sales in weeks. Conversion and analytics, as soon as what is broken gets fixed — sometimes a matter of days. Organic plays on a different timescale: three to six months for the first solid signals and nine to twelve to talk about a real shift in the landscape.
That is why a serious agency sets up what generates cash first and builds what generates future in parallel. If someone promises everything will arrive quickly, that is the most reliable sign that something does not add up.
What is the difference between growth hacking and growth marketing?
They are used almost interchangeably, but there is a nuance of focus. Growth hacking emphasises rapid, creative experiments to grow with limited resources; growth marketing is a more sustained, long-term view of that same data-driven growth. In practice, a good growth service combines both: the agility of hacking with the consistency of marketing. What matters is not the label but measurable growth.
Do I need to hire a growth hacker?
Not necessarily someone with that title, but a team that thinks like one: measuring, experimenting and optimising without stopping. As a growth agency, at AMDT we bring that growth mindset to your business, with strategy and data leading the way, rather than relying on a single person or magic formulae.
